Amsterdam Airport to Rotterdam Cruise Terminal transfer guide

Rotterdam’s cruise check in is awkward to reach from Schiphol with luggage if you rely only on scheduled transport. By car you should allow roughly 77 km and usually a little more than an hour when traffic is kind. Allow more time at peak hours. A chauffeur meets you by baggage reclaim, loads once, then drives straight to Wilhelminakade, Maashaven or whichever pier your operator lists.

Where is the Rotterdam Cruise Terminal?

Most cruise ships dock at the historic Cruise Terminal Rotterdam on Wilhelminakade 699. The terminal offers a spacious lounge, free Wi‑Fi, tourist information, taxi services and nearby parking. Some itineraries use an alternative berth at Maashaven, a few kilometres south, so it’s essential to check your pier assignment and share it with your driver.

Travel time and options

Most route planners show about 77 km from Schiphol to Rotterdam’s cruise berths on the fastest driving option. In light traffic the car leg is often just over an hour. Busy motorways, Friday afternoons and stacked cruise departures stretch that, so build in buffer. Private quotes for standard saloons or midsize vans on this run usually sit between €220 and €300 excluding Dutch VAT. Coaches or special services cost more. Nederlandse Spoorwegen runs Schiphol to Rotterdam Centraal in about half an hour, but you still need metro or taxi plus a walk along the quay, which is slow with heavy bags. There is no bus route that matches a private door to berth trip.

Why choose a private transfer?

Chauffeurs can track your flight when you share the airline and number, so meet times move if Schiphol runs late. Your bags go into one vehicle at the kerb and stay there until the pier, so you skip ticket stairs and platform changes. Larger groups often prefer one minibus or coach instead of several taxis, which keeps everyone together and the fare simpler after a long flight.

Planning your transfer

Book as early as possible, especially during cruise season. Provide your flight number, arrival time and the name of your cruise ship so we can monitor delays and confirm the correct berth. Choose the right vehicle: a luxury sedan for one to three passengers, a minibus for small groups or a coach for large parties. If you’re travelling with a lot of luggage or mobility aids, mention this when booking so we can allocate extra space. Don’t forget to check with your cruise line whether you’ll dock at the main terminal or at Maashaven.
